Trust Flow

Metrics

Trust Flow is a Majestic metric (0-100) that scores a URL or domain by how close its backlinks are to a curated set of trusted seed sites.

Trust Flow was developed by Majestic to estimate link quality rather than quantity. The idea is that trust flows outward from a hand-picked seed set of authoritative sites: the fewer link hops between those seeds and your page, the higher your score. A site one link away from major trusted sources scores far better than one buried under thousands of low-grade links.

It matters because Trust Flow lets you judge whether a referring domain is genuinely reputable or just inflated by volume. Read it alongside citation flow: a healthy profile shows the two metrics roughly balanced, while a high Citation Flow paired with a low Trust Flow often signals spammy or manipulated links.

An honest caveat: Trust Flow is a third-party estimate based on Majestic's own crawl and seed list, not a Google signal. Use it for comparison and triage, not as proof that a link will move rankings. Topical Trust Flow, which shows the categories your trust comes from, is often more actionable than the headline number.
